Climate Change and Human Rights: The KlimaSeniorinnen Case and the Role of the ECHR
In the KlimaSeniorinnen v. Switzerland case, the European Court of Human Rights ruled that, based on human rights, states are obliged to take measurements preventing climate change. In this case, a Swiss association, whose members were concerned about the consequences of global warming on their living conditions and health, considered that the Swiss authorities are not taking sufficient action to mitigate the effects of climate change.
