My name is Tjerk Bijlsma and it is my pleasure and honour to chair the 39th board of Urios. I’m 21 years old and I’m a 4th year bachelor student here at the University of Utrecht. I’m very interested in most kinds of corporate law, and intellectual property law. I also really enjoy discussing and thinking about international conflicts, with a backdrop of International- and European law.Read more..
As a chair my role on the board will be to guide and lead the other members into a successful and productive board year. Next to that I will be highly focussed on cooperating with other associations and the university, and organizing shared activities. I know of the honour that has been put on my shoulders, and know that I will carry out my responsibilities to the best of my abilities and with integrity.
I am really looking forward to chairing this amazing board and its members, and seeing these great people almost every day!
If you have any questions involving Urios in general, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org, and I will be sure to answer them for you.
My name is Koen Brackel and it is my honor to fulfill the role of Secretary of the 39th board of Urios. I am 22 years old and have just finished by Bachelor of Laws at the University of Utrecht. I am currently in my first year of the Master Company Law, also at the University of Utrecht. For my Bachelor’s thesis I wrote about parental liability in competition law cases. This intersection between company and competition law interests me greatly and I would love to dive even deeper into the subject. During my studies, European law related courses have always interested me, so doing a board year at Urios is something I look forward to!Read more..
Last year I was a member of the Symposium committee and I am very proud of the lectures and symposia we organized for our members last year. Especially the Brexit symposium was a great success and I look forward to the events that are to come this year. During my time at the Symposium committee my interest in becoming a board member also sprouted and I am very sure I have made the right call for the coming year.
As the Secretary of Urios I will be responsible for the communication with our members, whether that is through the newsletter or our various social media accounts. Furthermore, I will ensure that the still relatively new website runs smoothly and provides visitors with the information they need. Besides that, ensuring a good working atmosphere within the board is one of my tasks. I look forward to a year filled with challenges, opportunities but mostly a good year for Urios as a whole.
If you ever have any questions, feel free to contact me by sending an email to email@example.com or by coming round during our office hours.

It is my responsibility to make sure that Urios will remain financially healthy. I keep track of all the financial flows and administration, the accounting and ensure that my fellow board members can make use of suitable budgets. I am also responsible for the financial side of the Utrecht Journal of International and European Law.
Furthermore, together with my Short Exchange committee, I will be organizing the short exchange trip. Having the opportunity to exchange cultures and bond with likeminded peers does not only broaden your horizon but also gives an idea what it is like to study at a foreign university.
Feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org for any questions, ideas or applications for the Short Exchange Committee. Hopefully we will meet eachother soon!
My name is Jady Casper and I will be fulfilling the position of Activities Commissioner this upcoming year. I am excited and honored to have received this opportunity and to be part of the 39th board of Urios.
I am 18 years old and I am a third year law student at the Utrecht University as well as a third year accountancy student. I have specifically chosen these two studies because they complement each other well even though they are very different.Read more..
I became a member of Urios the first year I started studying law. International and European law have always intrigued me. The first activity I joined was a lecture in 2017, at which I got to meet a lot of members and I knew immediately that I wanted to become an active committee member so I joined the Symposium Committee. Besides organizing all the symposia and lectures that year, I also joined all the social events and trips organized by Urios. After joining the Short Exchange Trip to Rome and the Big Trip to India, I knew without a doubt that I would like to organize those in the future.
As the Activities Commissioner, I will be organizing most of the formal and social events this year such as the member drinks and visits to different courts. Furthermore, I will be organizing the Short Trip and the Big Trip. The Short Trip is a trip to European institutions. The Big Trip is a trip to a non-European country. During the Big Trip we will learn more about the culture of the country in question, as well as their judicial system. The Big Trip consists out of a combination of formal events and social events such as sightseeing.
I look forward to what is to come and I will do my utmost best to organize interesting and exciting activities that everyone can enjoy. If you are interested to know more about Urios or have any questions, feel free to contact us at email@example.com or visit us during office hours!
My name is Sanaa Rhalem and I am very proud and honored to be the Commissioner of External Affairs of the 39th board of Urios. I am 22 years old and after four years I just obtained my law degree (LL.B) at Utrecht University. During my fourth year I did an internship in Brussels and I worked with a Competition lawyer for a few months, and that is what fueled my interest in European Law even more and made me decide to start the Master’s Program European Competition Law and Regulation in September.Read more..
I already got involved with Urios in my first year, when I went on the Short Exchange to Lisbon. I had such a great time that I even joined another Short Exchange the year after. In my third year I was part of the External Affairs Committee and last year I was a member of the Career Event Committee. When I was asked if I had already considered a board year at Urios, I didn’t have to think twice, since becoming the Commissioner of External Affairs was almost a logical ‘next step’ in my Urios career ;). During my time in both committees, I learned that I don’t mind a challenge once I’m passionate about something, and that I like to network and negotiate on behalf of Urios and I am willing to go that extra mile to get the best possible result. As the Commissioner of External Affairs, I am hoping to grow even more professionally and improve different soft skills.
This academic year, I will be responsible for the acquisition of the association. I have to search for new sponsors, and establish collaborations with them, but also make sure that the relations with our current partners remain stable; of course all while making sure all our partnerships remain equally beneficial. Next to this, it will also be my job to introduce our members to some of the options the legal job market has to offer, by arranging visits to law firms or other organisations, and organising our annual Career Event.
I am excited for this coming year, I am very much looking forward to working together with my fellow board members and having the most successful and rewarding year ourselves and for Urios as well. Always feel free to visit our room at Janskerkhof 3 for a coffee or tea during our office hours or contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org!

Over the years I have taken part in many different debating competitions with immense joy and passion. Over the years I have had the privilege of partaking in the national debating championships, Model European Parliament and a number of collegiate Model United Nations sessions. As a result, I am incredibly motivated to now organize trips to MUNs all around Europe and of course organize Urios’ own URUMUN. During these conferences I hope to further improve my own debating skills and see others grow more confident in theirs. If you have any questions regarding Model United Nation conferences or URUMUN, feel free to email email@example.com
Hi! My name is Roshi Flippo and I am very honoured to fulfill the position of Symposium Commissioner on the 39th board of Urios. I am 21 years old and this summer I graduated from my Bachelors of Laws at Utrecht University. In September I started my Master’s Program Constitutional and Administrative Law at Leiden University.Read more..
My interest for Constitutional and Administrative Law is originated in my interest for politics and the legal relations between the government and its citizens. Nowadays this relation is not only influenced by Dutch law, but by European and international law as well. These European and international influences makes it my favourite field of study. Therefore, I became a member of Urios.
This year I wanted to discover this interest more by becoming the Symposium Commissioner of Urios. My goal is to organise lectures and symposia of high-quality and on a variety of topics. I hope I can show all the best that International and European law has to offer!
If you have any questions, suggestions or ideas, please do not hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org! I am looking forward to seeing you at one of our events!
