Urios is the Utrecht study association for International and European law. The association was founded in 1981 and has about 300 members, both Utrecht students and exchange students. We also have 'friends of Urios': the alumni. The main goal of Urios is to introduce students to International and European law on a more practical level.

Urios organizes many activities, such as excursions to the International Court of Justice, Europol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Criminal Court and study trips abroad to e.g. Geneva, New York, Vienna and Brussels. Lectures and debates are also part of the organised activities with as a highlight of the year our annual symposium with great speakers. Furthermore, Urios publishes its own journal on international and European Law, the "Merkourios". This scientific periodical appears three or four times a year (in English). For those who would like to get a taste of diplomacy Urios has its own MUN-Society which provides workshops and attends the OxiMun, TEIMUN and UNISUN every year. Lastly, to unwind and develop proper networking skills Urios hosts a monthly drink, where the members, friends, and interested people can all meet each other and Urios.

We welcome everyone who is interested in International and European Law, and/or wishes to participate in, or organize, activities in this field. It is not required that you are an International and/or European Law student. The membership fee is € 15 per year (for 12 months). As a member or friend you will receive preference and discount on all our activities; the "Merkourios", our newsletter and a free drink at the monthly Urios drink. It pays off to become a member!
